Getting a watch appraised?
Who would you trust to do an honest appraisal on an old watch? I'm curious if a regular jeweler would be the best source, or someone more specific. Thanks!

RE: Getting a watch appraised?
I would take it to both just to see the difference in prices, also it would depend on the price needed to get the appraisal too. I have heard some smaller shops turn better prices and tend to be more honest when it comes to dealing with someone that has a true appreciation for the time piece.

RE: Getting a watch appraised?
Someone registered in the trade of it? I am not going to run out and ask a random person on the street to appraise something that could be worth a pretty penny, would you?

RE: Getting a watch appraised?
I think you have to look for someone who is honest and is more than just a jeweler; a person who is not only into business but loves their work. Remember that we have as many appraisers out there but only few of them do stand out.
