Military Time
Do you like to set your digital watches to military time? Once I learned it, I've always preferred it to AM/PM because it eliminates any possible confusion.

RE: Military Time
I don't think it is called "military time" but I understand what you mean. I honestly prefer AM/PM as well, as it gives me the time instantly without me having to figure it out.

RE: Military Time
Oh, I've never heard it called anything else; I wonder what the proper name is then. Anyway, I'm glad you understood what I meant.

I am so used to seeing it that it no longer requires any "translation".

RE: Military Time
I use whatever you call 'military time.' I cannot clearly recall the last time I used the AM/PM option but in the beginning I would really get confused.

It is generally referred to as military time. This being said, the proper definition is 24-hour time. Both are interchangeable though so it doesn't really matter.

RE: Military Time
You will get confused to 24-hour time (this is the correct name) if you are used to AM/PM setup. My parents taught me to use the AM/PM time but I prefer using the 24-hour time now.

RE: Military Time
I'm okay with either the AM/PM or the 24-hour time. It's easy to get used to the 24-hour time. All you have to do for numbers greater than 12 (PM time) is simply subtract 12 from the number. For instance, 17:00 is 5:00 PM. (17 – 12). Smile

RE: Military Time
I always use AM/PM time. I get confused on the military time. I look at a watch that is on military time, and it takes a while for me to translate it. My brain is just not wired to translate military time quickly.

RE: Military Time
If I am wearing a digital watch I will set it for military time. I work int the health field and everything is documented in military time. It makes my life easier.

Yes, I can see why you prefer military time in that instance. Personally I really don't think it's hard to get used to in any case. As mywrist said, just subtract 12 from PM times.
