Video Footage from Camera Watch Used As Evidence
Video Footage from Camera Wrist Watch Used As Evidence in Murder Case
In China recently a land rights activist is suspected to have been murdered by the state. Activist Quan Yunhui – the head of the Zhaiqiao Village in Zhejiang province died Christmas day last year, 2010 when he was hit by a truck. Qian Yunhui has been previously arrested three times by Chinese police for petitioning to have his villagers compensated for land they lost to an energy company that took over the land with eminent domain rights in China. Local authorities claim that it was a traffic accident that caused a truck to hit Qian Yunhui but Human Rights Activists have been stating that they believe he was attacked. His family has reportedly said that Qian Yunhui stayed away from home for two nights before the incident because he feared attack. Chinese Police released a video in order to diffuse the situation and prove it was an accident. The video, reportedly taken from Qian Yunhui’s watch is about two minutes long. Police report that the watch was given to them by a village who removed it from Qian Yunhui’s body to keep it safe. It shows him crossing the road and being struck by the truck supporting the police’s claims. However Human rights activists believe the video from the watch was edited or created by police. This shows the unique uses of today’s higher tech luxury watches. You can record your last minutes, or quickly take notes between meetings – all with just your watch! |

RE: Video Footage from Camera Watch Used As Evidence
It is true that this incident goes to show how advanced technology is. It would have been better if the villager had approached a neutral person to ascertain whether or not it was an accident.

RE: Video Footage from Camera Watch Used As Evidence
Aside from the actual case, it is interesting that someone thought to check the watch for video. Did the watch say on the face that it contained a camera?

RE: Video Footage from Camera Watch Used As Evidence
The camera watch was amazing, but it would have been useless if the video was tampered with by the police. Yes, the video should have been given to a neutral person, but are there any neutral investigators who can bring the perpetrators (if there were any) to justice?
Anyhow, I'd love to have a camera watch. It would be useful in situations where people make verbal promises or say something that they could potentially go back on. |
